Report: Nick Diaz Says NSAC is “Out of Line”, Accuses Commission of “Trying to Hold me Down”

The MMA world is still reeling from the news that Nick Diaz has been suspended by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, and not surprisingly, it didn’t take long for the brash fighter to fire back at the commission.

Earlier on Monday it was reported that Diaz has been fined $165,000, and suspended for five years, after testing positive for marijuana for the third time earlier this year.

After the hearing, a visibly angry Diaz spoke with reporters, and here is some of what he had to say (quote via MMA Junkie.com):

“I wanted to tell them all, ‘Look, you guys are way the f-ck out of line. You guys are trying to hold me down from Day 1.’ That’s pretty much this whole sport trying to keep me from where I belong, and that’s the No. 1 position. I’m the biggest draw; I’m the best fighter. I’ve been fighting for longer. I’ve been throwing more punches than anyone in the sport. I’m going to dodge more punches than anyone in the sport. That’s the bottom line and what’s really going on. We got a whole system trying to hold me down.”

Diaz’s attorney has said that they plan to appeal the suspension. Diaz returned to the Octagon in January and was decisioned by Anderson Silva. Since the latter tested positive for PEDs following the bout, however, the bout was declared a no contest. Silva received a one year suspension from the NSAC.
