Report: Nick Diaz Suspension And Fine Reduced by Nevada Commission
By FCF Staff
After months of public outcry, the Nevada Commission has reduced the suspension and fine it handed Nick Diaz last year, following a positive test for marijuana.
Diaz was originally suspended for five years, and fined $165,000, after he tested positive for marijuana following his bout with Anderson Silva last January. It marked the third time Diaz had tested positive for the drug.
The suspension was angrily greeted by many fans, observers and fighters, and Diaz’s camp vowed to fight the sentence.
According to multiple reports, the Nevada Commission has decided to reduce Diaz’s suspension to 18 months, and his fine to $100,000. As a result the California star could be eligible to fight this August.
The 32 year-old Diaz was decisioned by Anderson Silva last January, but the result was overturned, after the latter tested positive for performance-enhancing-drugs.
