August 31st Card in Manila Confirmed, Chevrolet Promotion’s Official Car

Growing Asian promotion ONE FC is reportedly planning to carry an even busier schedule in 2013, as following its latest event in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, this past weekend, CEO Victor Cui announced that the company will promote 18 events next year.

News of the schedule, which will apparently run through 9 different cities, was reported by MMA Mania.

In addition, ONE FC has announced that the promotion is headed to Manila’s Smart Araneta Coliseum for a August 31st event. The venue is perhaps best known for hosting the “Thriller in Manila” boxing bout between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier in 1975.

No bouts for the card have been confirmed, although MMA Mania is reporting that DREAM lightweight champ Shinya Aoki is expected to fight on the card.

This past weekend, ONE FC also announced that it has reached a deal with Chevrolet, who is now the promotion’s official automobile sponsor.

“Since our inaugural event, I promised that ONE FC would only partner with the best fighters, the best promotions, the best gyms and the best sponsors, and I will continue to do so,” Cui was quoted saying in a press release from the promotion. “With that in mind, I would like to welcome global giant in the automobile industry, Chevrolet, onboard as the Official Automobile for ONE Fighting Championship™. This partnership with Chevrolet further attests to the phenomenal progress ONE FC is making across the region and the globe.”
