Paulo Filho

By FCF Staff

Former WEC champ and PRIDE middleweight Paulo Filho was pulled from a scheduled fight this weekend, after reportedly having a seizure.

Filho was booked to fight Amilcar Alves at an event in Sao Goncalo, Brazil on Sunday night. According to a report from MMA Fighting.com, however, a representative from the Brazilian Commission relayed Filho was “apparently” hospitalized after suffering a seizure Sunday morning. As a result the Brazilian fighter was pulled from the fight.

The 36 year-old Filho is 1-2-2 in his last 5 fights, and hasn’t fought since February when he was decisioned by Andre Muniz.

Filho made his pro debut in 2000, and went on to become one of PRIDE’s top fighters by winning eight straight bouts with the promotion.
