After being a UFC fighter for more than five years, it looks as though Paulo Thiago’s run with the promotion has come to an end.

Thiago dropped a unanimous decision to Sean Spencer in September, which was the Brazilian welterweight’s third consecutive loss and fifth in six fights. According to a report from Globo, and a follow up story from MMA Fighting.com, the UFC has cut the 33 year-old fighter.

Thiago had an immediate impact in the UFC’s welterweight division, by stopping Josh Koscheck at UFC 95 in 2009. Thiago was decisioned by Jon Fitch in his next fight, but proceeded to score wins over Jacob Volkmann and Mike Swick.

Since then, however,  the veteran has gone 2-7.

Thiago currently holds a pro record of 15-8. His last win took place in May, 2013, when he earned a UD victory over Michel Richard Cunha dos Prazeres.
