Report: Renowned MMA Trainer Shawn Tompkins Passes Away at 37

One of mixed-martial-arts most accomplished and respected trainers, Shawn Tompkins, has died at the age of 37. The Canadian’s passing is being reported by multiple outlets as well as the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

According to reports, the veteran instructor and retired fighter passed away in his native Canada, however, no details regarding the death of Tompkins have been released.

Prior to relocating to the United States, Tompkins was and continued to be the driving force behind some of Canada’s most established fighters, including Chris Horodecki, Sam Stout and Mark Hominick.

Tompkins went on to be a coach with the International Fight League’s Anaconda team and instruct at the the Xtreme Couture Gym in Las Vegas, before taking a position at the Tap Out Training Faciliy.

The former pupil of Bas Rutten was married to Sam Stout’s sister Emilie.
