Leading up to what turned out to be his final fight, Cody McKenzie was highly critical of the UFC, and now the retired fighter has fired several verbal shots Dana White’s way.

McKenzie announced he was retiring from fighting last month, after he was knocked out by Beslan Isaev at M-1 Challenge 54. Prior to the fight, McKenzie criticized the UFC on Twitter, and argued the promotion should be paying its athletes more. McKenzie cited the fact he hadn’t made any money while fighting, when he announced he was “done” with pro MMA.

The 27 year-old recently did an interview with MMA Fighting.com, and McKenzie relayed he’d “love to fight Dana White”, since according to the TUF vet, “he disrespects fighters.” McKenzie was also quoted saying:

“It’s just a joke,” McKenzie said. “I’ve heard stories about Dana tipping waitresses big money and it’s like, ‘Damn that’s more money than I get paid a year.’ That sucks.

“There’s a bunch of guys getting their heads pounded in to make them that money struggling. They don’t understand the other end of it. They don’t understand the struggle. Dana runs around running his mouth all the time about fighters.”

McKenzie, who has worked as a salmon fisher in the past, finished his career with an overall record of 15-6. The outspoken lightweight went 3-4 while competing for the UFC.
