Rory MacDonald’s 2015 campaign is not kicking off in the manner he originally hoped, and the welterweight contender admits he’s somewhat disgruntled about what’s gone down.

A couple of months ago, MacDonald was tapped by UFC President Dana White, as the man who would challenge for the welterweight championship next. That was before Robbie Lawler took the championship away from Johny Hendricks in December, however, and now the promotion is moving forward with a rubber match between the two.

MacDonald appeared on the latest episode of “The MMA Hour” on Monday, and discussed his disappointment about not getting passed over for a title shot. Although the fighter conceded that he understood this might happen, and that he’s not in the UFC’s “shoes”, MacDonald acknowledged he’s somewhat upset about the situation (quote via MMA Fighting.com).

“A little bit, you know? It makes me a little bit bitter about the situation, and probably makes me think about it in a little bit of a negative light. But you know, I’m a little bit pissed off and that’s how I’m dealing with it,” MacDonald said.

“Ares” is currently riding a three fight winning streak, which includes victories over Tarec Saffiedine, Tyron Woodley and Demian Maia. MacDonald is expected to fight Hector Lombard at UFC 186 on April 25th.
