Report: Ross Pearson’s Camp Appeals Decision Loss to Diego Sanchez
By FCF Staff
In the wake of what some observers are calling one of the worst decisions in UFC history, Ross Pearson is reportedly appealing his defeat to Diego Sanchez at UFC FN 42.
The fight was awarded to Sanchez by a 27-30, 30-27, 29-28 margin Saturday night, which took place in the fighter’s hometown of Albuquerque. The Telegraph is reporting that Pearson and his coach, Eric Del Fierro, have launched an appeal with the New Mexico commission.
While the consensus opinion is that Pearson won the fight, and many are saying the British fighter was outright robbed, the result will likely stand. Typically commissions will only overturn a result if its definitively determined that a scoring error or fraudulent act took place.
Pearson was coming off a no contest result heading into the bout, after he could not continue (due to a cut), as a result of an illegal knee Melvin Guillard landed in October.
