Sergei Kharitonov may be one of the best heavyweights on the planet outside of the UFC, but it doesn’t sound like the Russian fighter’s too keen on joining the ZUFFA promotion.

Kharitonov has competed for big stage organizations like PRIDE, Strikeforce and M-1 Global throughout his 15 year career, and has put together an impressive record of 23-5. In addition, Kharitnov has fought for kickboxing organizations like GLORY and K-1, and has posted a 10-4 record.

Recently the fighter spoke with the Russian publication MK, and while discussing whether he’d fight for the UFC, Kharitonov stated (quote via Bloody Elbow.com):

“As for me, I am 35 years old, I am no longer a young athlete. If I sign a contract with the UFC, they will give me one fight a year. And now, in the previous two years, I’ve had almost seven bouts. Therefore, I believe that I chose the right position. I stand where I want and where I am given the opportunity. I fight at the same time with worthy men.”

Khartinonov went on to say that he’d sign with the UFC, if the promotion guaranteed three fights in one year, and a title shot if he won the first two.

The heavy handed fighter is currently riding a five fight winning streak, and is coming off a stoppage win over Kenny Garner, while competing for M-1 Global in July.
