Report: Stipe Miocic’s Management Says Champ to Remain Sidelined as Contract Dispute Continues
By FCF Staff
Although there have been reports this week that Stipe Miocic will fight Cain Velasquez this October, his management says the champ will remain sidelined, until his contract dispute with the UFC is resolved.
The heavyweight’s management has informed MMA Fighting that there have been no substantial talks with the UFC, in terms of Miocic’s next bout, as a result of the dispute. At root of the issue is the fact that Miocic has made less than his last two opponents, Junior dos Santos and Alistair Overeem. The Ohio fighter stopped both men.
BJ Penn.com reported earlier this week that Miocic – Velasquez is in the works for October, and MMA OddsBreaker also reported that a source relayed the fight is planned.
According to the aforementioned report from MMA Fighting, however, Velasquez continues to recover from back surgery he underwent earlier this year.
