Report: Strikeforce Vet Shane Del Rosario Signs With UFC

By FCF Staff

The flow of Strikeforce heavyweights to the UFC reportedly continues, as today Iridium Sports Agency has announced that its client Shane Del Rosario has signed with the fellow Zuffa promotion. Del Rosario’s management made the announcement via its Twitter account.

The report of Del Rosario’s signing comes just days removed from Zuffa’s recent announcement that Strikeforce’s heavyweight division would be phased out in 2012.

Since turning pro in 2006, Del Rosario has won eleven straight fights, which includes victories over Brandon Cash, Lolohea Mahe and most recently Lavar Johnson under the Strikeforce banner. The Team Oyama fighter has also competed for organizations like EliteXC, King of the Cage and M-1 Global during his career.

All but one of Del Rosario’s wins have come in the first round.

No news regarding when Del Rosario will make his Octagon debut were disclosed.

Other Strikeforce heavyweights who have recently made their way to the UFC include Chad Griggs, Fabricio Werdum and the aforementioned Johnson.
