Leites

After Rafael Natal was recently moved from UFC 167 to “Fight for the Troops III” to face Tim Kennedy in the headliner, Ed Herman was left without an opponent. As a result, Thales Leites will reportedly step in to fight Herman at the November 16th card, which will be hosted by the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

The new match-up was reported on the latest edition of “UFC Tonight” Wednesday.

Leites (21-4) is coming off a victorious return to the Octagon at UFC 163 in August, as the former middleweight contender scored a unanimous decision win over Tom Watson.

The bout marked the first time Leites had fought in the UFC since 2009. The veteran has won four straight fights.

Herman (21-9) will be competing for the first time since UFC on FOX 8 in July, when he earned a split decision win over Trevor Smith. The memorable scrap also earned “Fight of the Night” honors.

The TUF vet is 3-1, with 1 no contest, in his last five bouts.

UFC 167 will be headlined by a welterweight bout between champion Georges St. Pierre and Johny Hendricks.
