The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s August 23rd, Fight Night card has reportedly received a compelling welterweight bout, as Jordan Mein will take on Thiago Alves.

The upcoming card is scheduled to take place at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. News of the Alves-Mein fight is being reported by FOX Sports.com.

Mein (28-9) is coming off a split decision win over Nova Uniao’s Hernani Perpetuo, after being stopped by top ranked contender Matt Brown last April. The 24 year-old fighter is 4-1 in his last 5 fights.

Alves (20-9) returned from a series of injuries in April, and worked his way to a unanimous decision win over Seth Baczynski. The last time the veteran had competed was in March, 2012, when he was submitted by Martin Kampmann.

The 30 year-old is 3-2 in his last 5 contests.
