Report: Tim Kennedy Says Holly Holm Would “Destroy” Cris “Cyborg”

Holly Holm

By FCF Staff

It remains to be seen what the UFC is going to do, in terms of booking Holly Holm’s next opponent, but Tim Kennedy doesn’t see anyone beating the new champ, including Cris “Cyborg”.

For months now, there’s been talk and debate about a fight between Rousey and “Cyborg”. The reason being, that prior to UFC 193, many believed “Cyborg” was the only legitimate threat to Rousey’s reign as UFC champ. Holm, however, proved that theory wrong by knocking out Rousey in the second round.

Kennedy recently appeared on “Fight Night” on 1300 The Zone, and the middleweight weighed in on Rousey’s loss to Holm. Kennedy reportedly criticized Rousey’s striking coach, Edmond Tarverdyan, for not telling the Judoka to change up her approach after she clearly lost round one. While discussing Holm’s future, the middleweight stated this (quote via MMA Fighting.com):

“I don’t see somebody beating Holly for a while. Until Holly says she’s done. As I look through the roster of the ‘Cris Cyborg’s’, who Holly would pick apart. That fight would be fun to watch because you’d finally get to see Holly demonstrate how good her boxing and kickboxing is against someone who thinks they’re good. Holly would destroy Cyborg.”

“Cyborg” had plans to make the drop to 135, since the UFC repeatedly insisted that she must do so, in order to fight Rousey. It will be interesting to see now, however, whether the Invicta FC featherweight champ continues on that road.

Rousey has said she will return to the Octagon but is taking a break. Prior to UFC 193, the star relayed she didn’t want to compete again until summer, 2016.
