Recently Dana White announced that the UFC is waiting to hear back from Tyron Woodley, on whether he’s interested in facing Hector Lombard, but now the UFC President says the welterweight wants “nothing to do” with the vet.

Woodley has expressed an interest in fighting Matt Brown next, but White has relayed that the promotion wants him to fight Lombard, who has apparently agreed to the fight. White was asked about the status of a Lombard-Woodley fight on Friday, and according to the ZUFFA exec, Woodley said he’s not interested in fighting a teammate. Both fighters train out American Top Team in Florida.

In addition, White stated (quote via MMA Fighting.com):

“I get a text from Hector Lombard that says, ‘please get this Woodley fight done for me, I want this fight so bad, he’s a two-faced phony and I want to beat his ass.’ Literally what he said to me. So I called Woodley when I landed, and said, obviously this isn’t a teammate thing, here’s what your teammate said, and he wants this fight bad. And he said he can say whatever he wants, he’s about him and he’s always about him, this fight doesn’t work for me and my brand. He started telling me all these reasons why he doesn’t want this fight. I said, whatever kid. Do your thing. But he wants nothing to do with Hector.”

Woodley, who is coming off a quick, stoppage win over Dong Hyun Kim at UFC FN 48, has not made any public statements yet about the situation.

Lombard is currently ranked #6 in the UFC’s welterweight division and Woodley is #3. White also added that the promotion is hoping to book Lombard for the promotion’s upcoming, November 8th card in Australia.
