UFC President Dana White stated prior to UFC 157 that he was already happy with the number of pay-per-view buys last Saturday’s “Rousey vs. Carmouche” card was expected to draw, and according to the early figures, that’s not about to change.

The first UFC event to be headlined by women’s bout, featuring bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey and challenger Liz Carmouche, may have attracted over 400,000 PPV buys, according to a report from MMA Fighting. The report, which cites industry sources, says that the number could eventually exceed 400,000 “significantly.”

A report from the Los Angeles Times believes the event could have drawn as much as 40% more PPV buys than UFC 156.

Of course, the final figure could vary substantially from the preliminary expectations, however, it would appear as though the event has been a huge success for the UFC.

After working her way free from an early rear-naked-choke attempt, Rousey went on to finish the bout with her patented armbar, before the opening round ended. The rising superstar has won all seven of her pro bouts to date by first round, armbar.

UFC 157 was hosted by Anaheim’s Honda Center.
