Report: UFC 196 Moved From PPV to FOX Sports 1 After Werdum – Velasquez II Falls Through

Johny Hendricks

By FCF Staff

After both Cain Velasquez and Fabricio Werdum announced they’re withdrawing from UFC 196 due to injuries, the card will reportedly air on FOX Sport 1, instead of being a pay-per-view event.

On Sunday, Velasquez announced he would not rematch Werdum on February 6th due to a back injury. The UFC proceed to announce that Stipe Miocic would fight Werdum instead, but then the heavyweight champ relayed he was also injured.

In a follow up report from Yahoo Sports, UFC President Dana White confirmed that because the card’s original headliner has fallen through, the event will air on FOX Sports 1. A welterweight fight between Johny Hendricks and Stephen Thompson will be the new main event.

UFC 196 will air on February 6th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
