After participating in over 50 professional fights, and competing for several of the sport’s biggest promotions including the UFC, John Gunderson has reportedly retired from fighting.

The 35 year-old fighter was scheduled to scrap Alexander Sarnavskiy on October 10th at Bellator 128, but according to a report from MMA Junkie.com, Gunderson has decided to hang up the gloves.

A Bellator official has confirmed to Full Contact Fighter that Gunderson has withdrawn from the October 10th bout as a result of his decision.

Gunderson cited nagging injuries, as well as a new job he’s secured in the security industry, as reasons why he’s elected to retire. The veteran, who relayed he’s “had enough fights”, also noted that he’d like to open his own gym at some point.

In June, Gunderson tapped out Jeff Fletcher to end a three fight losing skid, and extended his pro record to 35-16-2 in the process.

During his 12 year career, Gunderson fought for several organizations, including the International Fight League and World Series of Fighting. Gunderson fought for the UFC in 2010 and went 1-2.
