Report: UFC Exec Marc Ratner Says UFC on FS1 1 Not in Jeopardy
By FCF Staff
Although there might be more paperwork ahead, the first UFC on FOX Sports 1 card will proceed as scheduled on August 17th, according to UFC Vice President of Regulatory Affairs Marc Ratner.
Ratner has informed MMA Fighting.com that the UFC has begun the process of securing temporary social security numbers, for foreign fighters scheduled to compete at the Boston bound event, as Massachusetts law requires. The news comes not long after a report from the Boston Herald, quoted a Massachusetts Department of Public Safety spokesman relaying that the promotion had instead asked for an exemption. The exemption, according to the official, is not going to be granted.
According to U.S. regulations, a fighter must have a work visa for at least ten days before they can apply for a social security number, which Massachusetts requires in order for them to compete.
UFC on FS1 1 will be hosted by Boston’s TD Garden Arena and will feature Chael Sonnen fighting “Shogun” Rua in the main event.
