Report: UFC in Talks With Cris “Cyborg” Justino

"Cyborg" Justino

By FCF Staff

Although Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino recently announced that she no longer plans to compete at bantamweight, according to a new report, the UFC has renewed negotiations with the Invicta FC Featherweight Champion.

Due to “Cyborg’s” resume and skills, there has been considerable speculation over the last couple of years, as to whether the Brazilian might face UFC bantamweight champ, Ronda Rousey at some juncture. Justino and Invicta FC had announced that the fighter intended to drop down to 135, but in December, “Cyborg” said she had changed her mind.

In a new report from ESPN.com, however, UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta has confirmed that he’s renewed talks with Justino’s camp. According to Fertitta, they’re working on a deal that would allow “Cyborg” to remain with Invicta FC, and facilitate a bout with Rousey at 135 pounds.

Justino (12-1) hasn’t fought in MMA since July, 2013, when she stopped Marloes Coenen to become Invicta FC’s 145 pound champion.
