Several weeks after it was revealed the UFC was sold for an estimated $4 billion dollars, it’s being reported that the promotion is laying off a significant number of workers. The layoffs are taking place various UFC departments around the world.
According to reports from MMA Fighting.com and MMA Junkie, a source with knowledge of the situation has confirmed that the UFC is laying off “less than 15%” of the promotion’s staff. The company was believed to have between 350 and 400 employees prior to the layoffs.
The news comes not long after it was reported that longtime matchmaker Joe Silva is leaving the UFC at the end of 2016, and that vice president of public relations Dave Sholler has accepted a position with the Philadelphia 76ers.
