Report: UFC’s Looking at Options For Cris “Cyborg” to Compete at UFC 198

Cris "Cyborg"

Cris “Cyborg” Justino’s long awaited, UFC debut could be just around the corner.

The UFC is reportedly looking at ways to add the Invicta FC featherweight champ to its May 14th, UFC 198 card in Curitiba, Brazil. UFC Tonight corresponded Ariel Helwani reported the news on the latest edition of the show.

According to the report, the promotion is exploring possibilities for the Brazilian star to fight at the event, and that Justino could fight at 145 or 140. Nothing, however, has been determined.

Justino (15-1) is currently under contract with ZUFFA, but since the UFC doesn’t have a female, featherweight division, she remains with Invicta FC. For months there was speculation and talk about “Cyborg” cutting down to bantamweight and facing Ronda Rousey. More recently, however, Justino has said that she’s unable to make the drop to 135. Further, with Rousey having lost to Holly Holm, the drive for that super-fight isn’t what it once was.

UFC 198 will be hosted by the Arena da Baixada in Curitiba, and will feature heavyweight champ Fabricio Werdum taking on Stipe Miocic.
