After blasting through Mike Pyle at UFC Fight Night 26 and securing his sixth straight win, it looks like Matt Brown has landed a bout with a top ten ranked opponent.

Although no date has been set yet, according to a report from FOX Sports.com, the UFC is hoping to book a fight between Brown (18-11) and Tarec Saffiedine (14-3).

The latter, who is Strikeforce’s last welterweight champ and is ranked #8 in the division, is currently out due to an undisclosed injury. Saffiedine recently relayed that he hopes to return to action in late December or January.

Saffiedine worked his way to a unanimous decision win over Nate Marquardt in January, to win the welterweight belt and extend his win streak to four.

Prior to facing Pyle, Brown stopped rising welterweight Jordan Mein at UFC on FOX 7. The aggressive fighter is currently ranked #10 in the UFC’s welterweight division.
