Report: UFC Negotiating New Deal With Jon Jones, Location for Alexander Gustafsson Rematch not Set
By FCF Staff
Jon Jones hasn’t signed the dotted line to rematch Alexander Gustafsson just yet, and a reason why, is because the light-heavyweight champ is currently in negotiations with the UFC.
Saturday night it was revealed that the promotion is hoping to book Jones-Gustafsson II for August 30th, however, only the latter has verbally agreed to the bout.
According to multiple reports, UFC President Dana White relayed after UFC 173 that the fight’s not official, because Jones is working on a new deal. White also confirmed that “anything is possible” in terms of a location for the fight, including Sweden or Las Vegas.
Jones worked his way to a unanimous decision win over Gustafsson at UFC 165 in September, but since the fight was so competitive, a rematch is planned.
