It looks like the UFC intends to add a bout between two, top ten ranked bantamweights to its January schedule.

Raphael Assuncao and Aljamain Sterling were scheduled to fight this Friday at the UFC’s card in Albany, but the latter had to withdraw due to injury. According to a new report from MMA Fighting, sources have told the outlet that the UFC is targeting Assuncao – Sterling for its January 28th card in Denver.

The bout has not been officially announced.

Assuncao (23-5) is coming off a decision loss to TJ Dillashaw in July, which snapped his seven fight, winning streak.

Sterling (12-1) hasn’t fought since May when he lost via split decision to Bryan Caraway.
