Report: UFC Targeting Vitor Belfort – Lyoto Machida Bout
By FCF Staff
Although Lyoto Machida has campaigned for a fight with Michael Bisping, the UFC is reportedly working on having “The Dragon” fight Vitor Belfort next.
Following Machida’s decision win over Eryk Anders at UFC Fight Night 125 earlier this month, the Brazilian legend called out Bisping, for the latter’s retirement bout. But, according to a new report from MMA Fighting, multiple sources are saying that the UFC is trying to book Belfort – Machida for UFC 224.
The card will take place on May 12th in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Belfort was booked to fight Uriah Hall in January, in what was expected to be his retirement fight. Hall had to drop out of the bout, however, due to medical issues he incurred during his weight cut.
Belfort’s last fight took place in June, 2017, when he earned a decision victory over Nate Marquardt.
