It looks as though UFC 187 has lost another of the card’s initial bouts, as according to reports, Khabib Nurmagomedov has injured his knee and likely will have to withdraw.

The renowned grappler was scheduled to fight fellow, lightweight contender Donald Cerrone at the event, in what was expected to be a title shot eliminator.

MMA Junkie.com is reporting that a source has informed the outlet that Nurmagomedov is out of the May 23rd fight. A follow up report from MMA Fighting.com says “The Eagle” will have his knee examined on Thursday to determine whether he can still compete.

The 26 year-old Nurmagomedov (22-0) hasn’t fought since last April when he decisioned now reigning champ, Rafael dos Anjos. The lightweight tore his ACL later in the year and underwent surgery.

UFC 187 was originally set to feature Anthony Johnson taking on Jon Jones, who has since been stripped of the light-heavyweight title and suspended by the UFC, following his arrest last weekend.
