It looks as though Raphael Assuncao won’t spend much time on the sidelines, after breaking his ankle in December, as according to a new report he and Urijah Faber have verbally agreed to fight on March 21st.

The bantamweight fight, which will match the #3rd ranked Faber up against the #4 positioned Assuncao, will reportedly headline a UFC Fight Night card in Rio de Janeiro on that date. The bout is being reported by Globo’s Combate, but according to the story, contracts have not been signed yet. The promotion has not made any announcement regarding the reported fight.

Faber (32-7) is coming off victories over Francisco Rivera and Alex Caceres, after he was stopped by now former champion, Renan Barao, in February, 2014. Faber fought Assuncao under the WEC banner in 2010, and submitted the noted grappler in the third round.

Assuncao (23-4) is riding a seven fight win streak, which includes a decision win over reigning champ, TJ Dillashaw.

Most recently, the contender worked his way to a unanimous decision win over Bryan Caraway.
