Although many in the MMA world may still be debating who won last night’s epic tilt between Benson Henderson and Gilbert Melendez, it appears as though no immediate rematch will take place. The reason being that UFC President Dana White has reportedly announced that the winner of the T.J. Grant and Gray Maynard bout will challenge for the title next.

White made the announcement following last night’s UFC on FOX 7 card, which saw Henderson work his way to a tightly contested split decision win over Melendez.

Maynard and Grant are scheduled to fight at the May 25th, UFC 160 event that will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

It wasn’t long ago, of course, when Maynard (11-1-1) participated in two, classic title fights with Frankie Edgar. The first was declared a draw, and in the second bout at UFC 136 in October, 2011, Maynard was knocked out by the former champ.

Since then the decorated wrestler has gone on to defeat Clay Guida by split decision.

Grant (20-5), meanwhile, was worked his way into title contention by winning four straight fight since he moved to lightweight in 2011. The well rounded fighter is coming off a vicious knockout of Matt Wiman at UFC on FOX 6 in January.

UFC 160 will be headlined by a heavyweight bout between champion Cain Velasquez and Antonion Silva.
