Report: WWE Sources Believe Brock Lesnar Returning to UFC

Brock Lesnar

As speculation continues as to whether Brock Lesnar might return to the UFC, according to a new report, sources believe the former heavyweight champ plans to step into the Octagon again.

Lesnar said he was retiring from fighting in 2011, and since then, the star has been wrestling for the WWE. It’s been reported that the 37 year-old’s pro-wrestling contract will end in a few months, however, which has heightened talk of a possible, MMA comeback.

According to a new report from long time MMA and wrestling observer, Dave Meltzer, members of the WWE believe that Lesnar is planning a return to the UFC. Meltzer relayed the news in his subscription only, Wrestling Observer publication, and it was passed along by Mixed Martial Arts.com.

The WWE sources reportedly cited the fact that Lesnar has lost some weight, and that for them, this is further evidence that he plans to fight again.

Lesnar walked away from the UFC in December, 2011, after he was stopped by Alistair Overeem. The decorated, collegiate wrestler cited his lengthy battle with diverticulitis as the main reason for his decision. Since then, however, it’s been reported that Lesnar has fully recovered from the illness.
