Report: Yushin Okami Not Returning to UFC After Recent Loss

Okami

By FCF Staff

Despite having gone 13-5 in the Octagon and defeated several top ranked middleweights, Yushin Okami has reportedly been released by the UFC, following his loss to “Jacare” Souza earlier this month.

News of Okami’s release is being reported by MMA Junkie.com. Prior to facing Souza, the 32 year-old fighter had won three straight bouts over Buddy Roberts, Hector Lombard and Alan Belcher.

The Judo black belt earned a title fight with Anderson Silva in August, 2011, and was stopped by the renowned fighter in round two.

While Okami is unquestionably one of the more successful Japanese fighters to compete in the UFC, he was often criticized by some for his grinding style.

“Thunder” currently holds a record of 29-8.
