RFA 43: Brian Camozzi vs. Nick Barnes – Full TV Card Announced

By Press Release

LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Resurrection Fighting Alliance (RFA) president Ed Soares announced last month that the RFA is returning to Colorado in September. The main event of RFA 43 will feature a battle for the vacant RFA welterweight title. Brian “The Mantis” Camozzi will look to keep the title in Colorado when he battles Nick “The Phoenix” Barnes. Now further bouts have been confirmed for the upcoming card in the Mile High City. RFA 43 – Camozzi vs. Barnes will take place Friday, September 9th at the 1STBANK Center in Broomfield, Colorado. The entire main card will be televised live and nationwide on AXS TV at 10 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. PT.

Tickets for RFA 43 – Camozzi vs. Barnes are available for purchase NOW throughAltitudeTickets.com or you can support your favorite fighter by purchasing your tickets through CageTix.com/RFA. Tickets to RFA 43 start at just $30. VIP tables are available by calling 303-521-0966.

Last month, it was revealed that Colorado’s own Brian “The Mantis” Camozzi (6-2) and Wyoming native Nick “The Phoenix” Barnes (11-1) will vie for the vacant welterweight title in the headlining bout at RFA 43. It was also announced that four other RFA fan favorites would be returning to make up the top half of the main card. In the co-main event, Denver native Adam Stroup (10-3) and Brazilian powerhouse Gabriel “Zangief” Checco (9-2) will meet at middleweight. Then in the featured bantamweight bout, Hawaiian KO artist Boston “Boom Boom” Salmon (5-0) will lock horns with Colorado upset king Zac “The Anointed Warrior” Riley (4-3).

The next three bouts making up the main card of RFA 43 are equally intriguing. In featherweight action, Colorado’s top 145-pound prospect Cory Sandhagen (4-0) returns to the RFA Octagon after making a successful debut for the promotion in January. The Elevation Fight Team standout has a tall task in his next bout, both figuratively and literally. That would come in the form of three-time RFA vet Clay Wimer (6-1). Wimer stands a towering 6’3″ making him one of the tallest featherweights in the sport. Furthermore, he has gotten his hand raised from stoppage wins in all three of his RFA bouts.

Also in featherweight action, Josh Wick (5-2) returns to the RFA Octagon for a second time against undefeated Muay Thai stalwart Jonathon “Jonny Tsunami” Wyderko (2-0). Wick moved to Colorado from his home in Idaho late last year and has quickly become one of Elevation Fight Team’s most promising up-and-coming prospects. He will look to showcase that potential against Wyderko, who will be returning to AXS TV after competing in professional Muay Thai for Lion Fight.

The first televised bout at RFA 43 will be in the light-heavyweight division between two exciting finishers. Hometown hero Brock Combs (2-1) has a nose for submissions, but he has been honing his striking skills under the tutelage of UFC and K-1 vet Pat Barry. He will welcome the heavy-handed Texan Alonzo Menifield (1-0) to the Mile High City in a bout that will likely produce a spectacular finish. Menifield like Combs is known for his finishing abilities as the Bellator vet has never seen a bout go past 60 seconds as an amateur or professional fighter.

The preliminary card will feature the return of Adam “The American Bully” Martinez (2-1). Martinez won his first two pro bouts for the RFA at featherweight and will now drop to 135-pounds. He will face undefeated Nebraska native Terrence Almond (2-0). Also returning to the RFA Octagon, will be Eric “Thee Antidote” Grant (1-1) who is the cousin of Bellator star L.C. Davis. Grant submitted BJJ black belt Lucas Dias in the first round of their bout at RFA 34 in January. Grant will now face undefeated Peter Straub (4-0), who has made a name for himself by running through his first four opponents in local Colorado shows. The preliminary card of RFA 42 is also expected to see the return of the Yohn Bothers, Sonny Yohn and Cody Yohn. The Yohn brothers wrestled at the University of Minnesota alongside RFA star Logan Storley.

RFA 43 will be the promotion’s eighth event to take place in the state of Colorado and the second RFA event to be held in the “Centennial State” this year. The entire main card of RFA 43 – Camozzi vs. Barnes will be televised live and nationwide on AXS TV at 10 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. PT on Friday, September 9th.
