Rick Story To Face Mike Pyle In Place Of Injured Gunnar Nelson At UFC 160

Rick Story

By Timothy J. Gilbert

Rick Story will step in for an injured Gunnar Nelson to face Mike Pyle at UFC 160 in Las Vegas.

The UFC announced the switch late Tuesday night. They did not address the nature of the injury, although Sherdog.com reports it was Nelson’s knee that kept him sidelined.

Story (15-6) is coming off of a first round TKO victory over Quinn Mulhern and is 2-3 in his last five fights. Prior to this drop off Story was on a six fight win streak with decision wins over such names as Johny Hendricks and Thiago Alves.

The now injured Nelson (11-0-1) is undefeated in his professional mma career. He has seven victories by way of submission with only one fight going to a decision. He is 2-0 under UFC sponsorship.

The 37 year old Pyle (24-8-1) is 6-1 in his last seven fights with wins over Josh Neer, Ricardo Almeida and James Head. His last loss came to Rory MacDonald in August of 2011. Pyle looks to extend his current streak to four victories with a win over Story.

UFC 160 is scheduled to take place on May 25 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
