(May 3, Boston, Massachusetts) It was a night of knockouts here in Boston, as promoter Tom Hafers’ third Ring of Fury incarnation showcased some quick hands and heavy leather. Taking a page from the World Fighting Alliance’s "Fight Club meets the Nightclub" motif, Ring of Fury 3 packed over a thousand fans into a downtown club – and fed those fans a steady diet of techno-music, dancing girls, and MMA action. From the event’s promoter: RITC 48 – Results Carlos Ortega named Fighter of the Night ACS goes 3-0 Despite the fact that 3 professional fighters (Hattan, Williams and Shafer) pulled out hours before the show, RITC 48 went on as planned. A highly enthusiastic Cinco de Mayo weekend crowd cheered wildly for the 18 combatants including 8 fighters making their RITC debut. Carlos Ortega won by submission in a wild match where technique prevailed over brute strength. After the fight, the cross-town rivals embraced in a show of good sportsmanship. This impressive victory earned Fighter of the Night (FOTN) honors for Carlos Ortega. Other candidates for FOTN were Steve McDonald, Brian Mitchell, Ray Steinbeiss, Stack Hakes, Gabe Casillas, Gustavo Dantas and Herb Garcia.
