Aggression FC has added one of the top lightweights not currently under UFC contract to its roster, as the Canadian promotion has signed Jesse Ronson to a multifight contract. The London, Ontario fighter will battle Aggression FC lightweight champ Shane Campbell ins his promotional debut, which will take place July 5th in Edmonton, Alberta.

“I chose AFC, as the UFC was not readily available for me and it seemed like the best promotion to sign with,” Ronson was quoted saying in a press release from the promotion. “Lots of shows, lots of good talent and AFC is not localized they have shows all over Canada so more places to show off my skills and build a bigger fan base.”

Ronson (12-2) has won seven straight fights and is coming off a memorable, unanimous decision win over Ryan Healy at a Score Fighting Series card last November. The last man to defeat Ronson is recent TUF finalist Mike Ricci.

“The fight against Shane Campbell is very exciting to me, added Ronson. “This is the final step to legitimize who is the best 155lbs striker in Canadian MMA. He’s a world champion and as good as they come on the feet and I look forward to testing him and proving I’m the best.”

Campbell (8-1), meanwhile, is currently riding a four fight win streak, and is coming off a submission win over Stephen Beaumont in November. The only man to defeat the decorated kickboxer since he transitioned into MMA is Dave Mazany.

The July 5th card will also feature a bout between Bellator’s Ryan Ford and the winner of number 1 contender fight between Michael Hill (5-0) vs Joel Powell (6-3). That bout takes place May 19 at AFC 18 in Victoria BC.
