Rockhold vs. Jardine Confirmed, Lawal vs. Larkin, Lawler vs. Amagov Added to Jan. 7th Strikeforce

Rockhold (left) will fight Jardine January 7th

By FCF Staff

As previously reported, Strikeforce has confirmed today that its middleweight champion Luke Rockhold will fight UFC vet Keith Jardine at its upcoming January 7th event in Las Vegas. The promotion has also announced three more bouts for the card, as “King Mo” Lawal will fight light-heavyweight Lorenz Larkin, welterweight Tarec Saffiedine will battle Tyler Stinson, and Robbie Lawler will take on middleweight Adlan Amagov.

Reports surfaced recently that Rockhold (8-1) would meet Jardine (17-9-2) in his first title defense, after the American Kickboxing Academy fighter scored a unanimous decision win over “Jacare” Souza in September to become middleweight champ.

The former light-heavyweight Jardine is coming off a draw with Gegard Mousasi in April, which was the veteran’s only Strikeforce bout to date.

Lawler (18-8) is coming off back-to-back losses to Souza and Tim Kennedy, while Amagov (9-1-1-) knocked out Anthony Smith at Strikeforce’s most recent Challengers event in November.

“King Mo” Lawal (8-1) stopped Roger Gracie in his last outing at a Strikeforce card in September, while Larkin (12-0) earned a UD victory over Nick Rossborough at Challengers 19 that same month.

In Saffiedine’s (11-3) last appearance this past July, he worked his way to UD win over Scott Smith;  Stinson (22-7) also competed on that same Strikeforce card and knocked out Eduardo Pamplona.

The upcoming January 7th card will be hosted by The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas and will be broadcast on Showtime.
