Ronda Rousey: “I Was Knocked Out on my Feet” in First Exchange With Holly Holm

Ronda Rousey

By FCF Staff

Ronda Rousey is making the media rounds again, and the former bantamweight champ discussed her loss to Holly Holm in detail, while appearing on “The Ellen Show”.

Rousey was KO’d by Holm at UFC 193 in November, in what was widely considered to be one of the biggest upsets in MMA history. While talking to Ellen Degeneres, Rousey relayed that she was hurt badly, only moments into her bout with Holm (quotes via MMA Fighting.com):

“I got clipped in the first exchange so I was knocked out on my feet like the first time I got hit,” Rousey said. “It’s hard to really know what’s going on. In that first hit I cut up my whole mouth and I knocked my teeth loose. Guys fight for five five-minute rounds, they are teeing off each other faces the whole time and nothing like that happens. It’s just destiny, it had to go down that way.

“It was weird. I had no perception of… I felt like almost I couldn’t see,” she added. “Like, I could see but I couldn’t tell how far my hand was from my face or how far was she from me…”

The former champ also discussed her mental devastation as a result of the defeat, but said her relationship with Travis Browne is what lifted her up. Rousey isn’t expected to fight again until later in 2016. In the meantime, Rousey will star in the upcoming remake of “Roadhouse”.
