In addition to the thunderous left hook that floored him in round three, Stefan Struve is reporting that a broken jaw he incurred was another reason why the massive heavyweight was unable to continue at UFC on FUEL TV 8.

After Struve was sent crashing to the canvas, and as Hunt walked away assuming the fight was over, referee Herb Dean called on Struve to fight. The veteran referee soon realized, however, that Struve was unable to continue.

Struve relayed via his Twitter account:

Thanks for the support everybody, I wanted Herb to take the tooth out of my cheek and continue but then it turned out my jaw was broken..

45 minutes to the hospital without painkillers.. Man, please choke me out.. Jaw is hurting like crazy.. 🙁

Wired my jaw in the hospital here and flying back tomorrow to get surgery as soon as we land monday in Holland, thnx for the great care @ufc

The loss ended a four fight win streak for Struve (25-6), which included victories over Pat Barry, Dave Herman, Lavar Johnson and Stipe Miocic.

UFC on FUEL TV 8 was hosted by the Saitama Super Arena in Japan.
