Following Tyron Woodley’s victory at UFC 201, the new champ said he wants to fight Nick Diaz at UFC 202, but Stephen Thompson insists he should be next.

Woodley took out Robbie Lawler with a vicious series of right hands on Saturday, and in doing so, secured the welterweight title. Prior to the event, Thompson had argued he should have been the one challenging Lawler for the belt.

In the FOX Sports 1, post-fight show, Thompson had this to say, about his next fight (quote via FOX Sports 1 press release):

“I’ve cleaned out the division. I should be next. I’m going to be making the money with my foot against his head. This is my division.”

Thompson has won seven straight fights and is coming off a decision win over longtime contender, Rory MacDonald. Prior to that, he stopped former champ Johny Hendricks in the opening round. The dynamic striker is ranked #1 in the welterweight division.
