By FCF Staff
UFC 136 has a new middleweight bout, as today the promotion announced that Steve Cantwell and Mike Massenzio have agree to square off on the card. The October 8th event will be hosted by Houston’s Toyota Center.
Cantwell (7-4) will be looking to end a three fight losing skid, as the 24 year-old-fighter is coming off losses to Brian Stann, Luiz Cane and most recently Cyrille Diabate, while competing as a light-heavyweight. The WEC vet’s sole Octagon win took place in December, 2008, when he earned a technical submission victory over Razak Al-Hassan.
Massenzio (12-5) is 2-3 in his last five fights and is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Krzysztof Soszynski in June, which took place at light-heavyweight. The 28 year-old-middleweight’s only Octagon win to date was a submission win over Drew McFedries in September, 2008.
UFC 136 will be headlined by two title fights, as lightweight champion Frankie Edgar will face Gray Maynard for the third time, and featherweight champ Jose Aldo will look to defend against Kenny Florian.
Some of the other bout scheduled for the card include Brian Stann vs. Chael Sonnen, Demian Maia vs. Jorge Santiago and Melvin Guillard vs. Joe Lauzon.
