Stipe Miocic Says “Versatility” And Work Ethic Sets Him “Apart” in UFC HW Division

Stipe Miocic

Stipe Miocic hasn’t secured the title shot he’s been campaigning for just yet, but the heavyweight continues to make the case for why he’ll be champ at some point…

Recently, the UFC announced that Miocic will battle fellow contender Ben Rothwell on October 24th, at the promotion’s next event in Dublin, Ireland. Not long ago, UFC President Dana White said that the next title shot would likely go to Andrei Arlovski or Miocic. The promotion changed course, however, and Cain Velasquez will rematch new champ Fabricio Werdum next year.

Recently Miocic spoke to UFC.com about his career and championship aspirations, and the well rounded fighter relayed the following:

“I’ve come a very long way since my first fight and it’s been great to see all the hard work I’ve invested inside the gym pay off,” Miocic said. “I really owe it all to my coaches and training partners because they’ve always pushed me. I also think my versatility absolutely sets me apart from the other guys in my division. I can do everything pretty well and I have the work ethic to back it all up. I also hate losing at anything. Even if it’s ping pong or board games, I’m not going to lose.”

The 32 year-old Miocic is coming off a one sided, stoppage win over Mark Hunt in May, after he was narrowly decisioned by Junior dos Santos in December.

The fighter has gone 7-2 in the UFC to date.
