Strikeforce Confirms Multiple Bouts for Sept. 10th

By FCF Staff

Strikeforce’s upcoming September 10th event will feature several of its more established competitors, as the promotion has confirmed several previously reported bouts for the card that include former or current champions.

As expected, Strikeforce announced via its Twitter account that former light-heavyweight champ Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal (7-1) (pictured) will face Roger Gracie (4-0) at the event. The two had been originally scheduled to fight July 30th, but a knee injury to Gracie postponed the fight. Lawal hasn’t fought since last August when he was stopped by Rafael Calvacante, while Gracie is coming off  a submisssion win over Trevor Prangley in January.

In addition, a middleweight title fight between champion Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza (14-2) and Luke Rockhold (7-1) has been confirmed for the September 10th card. Souza last competed in January and tapped out Robbie Lawler, while in Rockhold’s previous outing in February, 2010, he stopped Paul Bradley.

The upcoming event, which has yet to have a venue confirmed, will also see former light-weight champion Josh Thomson (18-4) take on Strikeforce newcomer Maximo Blanco (8-2), and newly signed welterweight prospect Jordan Mein (22-7) fight Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos (18-14).
