Strikeforce Vet Chad Griggs Making Octagon Debut vs. Travis Browne

Griggs (right) will fight Browne at UFC 145

By FCF Staff

The transfer of Strikeforce heavyweights to the UFC continues, as today the latter has confirmed that Chad “The Grave Digger” Griggs will make his Octagon debut versus Travis Browne in March.

The heavyweight bout will be part of the UFC 145 card in Montreal, Quebec, which is expected to take place on March 24th.

Griggs (11-1) arrives in the UFC riding a six fight win streak, which includes wins over Bobby Lashley, Gian Villante and most recently Valentijn Overeem.

Griggs move to the UFC comes just days removed from the news that the Strikeforce heavyweight division would be phased out in 2012.

Browne (12-0-1) has remained undefeated since joining the UFC, as aside from a draw with Cheick Kongo last October, the 6’7 heavyweight has scored victories over Rob Broughton, Stefan Struve and James McSweeney.

UFC 145 will also feature a welterweight bout between prospect Rory MacDonald and the veteran Che Mills.
