Strikeforce’s upcoming January 12th event in Oklahoma City has another significant addition, as light-heavyweight Mike Kyle has announced that he’s fighting former Strikeforce champ Gegard Mousasi at the event.

Kyle made the announcement via his Twitter account as well as through a video blog post.

The veteran hasn’t competed since May when he was stopped by Rafael Cavalcante; however, the latter “Feijao”, failed his post-fight drug test and the bout was declared a no contest.

Aside from that bout, Kyle (19-8) has gone 4-1 in his last five and has scored wins over Marcos Rogerio de Lima, Stephen Oliver, Tony Lopez and Ron Humphrey during that time.

Mousasi (32-3) is undefeated in his last five fights and has gone 4-0-1 during that stretch. Most recently the decorated fighter worked his way to a unanimous decision win over Ovince St. Preux last December.

Other wins in this time frame have come over Jake O’Brien, Tatsuya Mizuno and Hiroshi Izumi, with a draw occurring versus Keith Jardine.

The upcoming Strikeforce event, which is expected to be the promotion’s last, will be hosted by the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City.

The card will feature middleweight champion Luke Rockhold taking on Lorenz Larkin, as well as welterweight champ Nate Marquardt facing Tarec Saffiedine.

The event will be broadcast on Showtime.
