Eddie
Monday, January 22 — It’s another busy Monday, as we open today’s show with a report from this past Friday’s IFC Battleground 2001 mixed martial arts card held at the Tropicana Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Floyd Mayweather’s destruction of previously undefeated Diego Corrales to retain the WBC jr. lightweight title is reviewed by Doug Fischer of Houseofboxing.com, who witnessed this fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, this past Saturday night. And Kipp Kollar, president of the North American Grappling Association (NAGA), joins us once again to preview this coming Saturday’s 1st Annual Sunshine State Submission Championship, to be held at Cypress Creek High School in Orlando, Florida.

Tuesday, January 23Chris Cordeiro joins us to discuss this past Saturday’s Battlejax 4 fight card at Club 5 in Jacksonville, Florida. Fighter Eddy Rolon joins us to discuss his come-from-behind victory this past Saturday night for the IFC Battleground 2001 Heavyweight Championship with a toe lock submission.

Wednesday, January 24 — Today we preview two upcoming fight cards that will take place this week. DiBella Entertainment’s "Night of The Olympians" will be held at Madison Square Garden this Saturday, January 27, in which 2000 Olympic boxers Ricardo Williams, Jr., Jermain Taylor, Clarence Vinson, Michael Bennett, Jose Navarro, Dante Craig, and Jerson Ravelo all will make their pro debuts. We plan to open our show with a report from today’s press conference at the Garden. Also, the Fight Zone returns tomorrow night, Thursday, January 25, to the Crystal Gardens in Southgate, Michigan, and we will speak to promoter Dave Gomez and several fighters on that mixed martial arts card, including Angelo Popofski.

Thursday, January 25 — The combat sports world is still abuzz about the sale of UFC to the new Zuffa company. Today we find out more about the new UFC from the man who will oversee its day-to-day operations, Dana White. And the "Voice of the Octagon" Bruce Buffer joins us to discuss what to expect in the new UFC, and to offer his observations from his many travels to all sorts of fighting events all over the world, including some recent comments from a prominent boxer on UFC. Hint: the boxer is the best-known active fighter on the planet.

Friday, January 26Miguel Iturrate, editor of the Abu Dhabi Combat Club news page, joins us to report on his trip last week to Brazil where he covered the ADCC Qualifier Brazil, whose victors will go to the 4th Annual Submission Wrestling World Championships in Abu Dhabi, UAE, on April 11,12, and 13. Miguel also reports on this coming Saturday’s HOOKnSHOOT "Quake" mixed martial arts show, to be held at the Memorial Coliseum in Evansville, Indiana. Also, Mansour Heidari, a 1988 Olympic wrestler from Iran, won this past Friday’s IFC light heavyweight tournament championship with two victories by submissions. Today Mansour speaks with us.
