TJ Dillashaw Hopes “More Guys Continue to Complain” About UFC’s Compensation

Luke Rockhold recently made it clear he wasn’t happy with what the UFC was offering for his next bout, and TJ Dillashaw agrees with the the middleweight’s complaint.

Prior to the announcement that Rockhold will fight “Jacare” Souza on November 26th, the former champ said the “money wasn’t right” in the promotion’s offer. Rockhold was just the latest fighter in recent weeks to comment publicly about fighter compensation, following the UFC’s sale for a reported $4.2 billion.

Dillashaw appeared on “Submission Radio” recently, and while discussing Rockhold’s statements, the former bantamweight champ stated (quote via Bloody Elbow.com):

“Yeah, he does have a point. I mean, it does suck. I do feel that we’re a higher commodity than that. I think the UFC is the UFC because of the fighters and I’m hoping they start realizing that and start paying us what we deserve. That company just sold for four billion dollars. It kind of shows the value of the fighters. We make that organization. If you don’t have the best fighters in the world, you don’t have the best organization. So yeah, I’m hoping it swings around and more guys continue to complain, especially when you see some bigger pay cuts going out to some of these bigger names. But yeah, he’s definitely got a point.”

In July, Dillashaw argued that the UFC treats fighters like “employees”, but without the benefits that are normally granted employees. The 30 year-old fighter has yet to be booked for his next bout, after earning a decision win over Raphael Assuncao at UFC 200.
