Heavyweight Todd Duffee is returning to the Octagon, as the UFC has announced that the 26 year-old has agreed to fight Philip Defries, December 29th at UFC 155. Duffee is stepping in as a replacement for Matt Mitrione, who was moved into the main event slot versus Roy Nelson, due to Shane Carwin being injured.

Duffee has fought only twice since he was stopped by Mike Russow and exited from the UFC in May, 2010. In December of that year, he was promptly knocked out by Alistair Overeem while competing for DREAM.

More recently in April, however, Duffee (7-2) stopped UFC vet Neil Grove while fighting under the Super Fight League banner.

DeFries (9-1) is coming off  a second round, submission win over Oli Thompson at a UFC on FOX card in August, after being knocked out by Stipe Miocic in February.

UFC 155 will be hosted by the MGM Grand Garden arena in Las Vegas and will feature a heavyweight bout between champion Junior dos Santos and Cain Velasquez in the main event.
