Just a few weeks out from when Junior dos Santos was scheduled to fight Stipe Miocic at the TUF Brazil III Finale, the former heavyweight champ has been forced to withdraw due to an injury.

The UFC has confirmed that dos Santos will not fight Miocic on May 31st as scheduled due to injury, however, the promotion has not disclosed any specific details. According to a report from the Brazilian outlet Combate.com, dos Santos cracked his thumb while training.

The promotion has also announced that it is taking steps to find a replacement for “Cigano”.

The 29 year-old dos Santos (16-3) would have been competing for the first time since UFC 166 in October, when he was stopped by champion Cain Velasquez.

Miocic (11-1), meanwhile, is coming off unanimous decision wins over Roy Nelson and Gabriel Gonzaga.

The May 31st, TUF Brazil III Finale will go down in Sao Paolo, Brazil, and will feature the middleweight and heavyweight finals from the competition.
