Two Five Round Bouts Co-Headliners for MFC 32

Gouveia

By FCF Staff

The Maximum Fighting Championship has announced the co-main events that will headline the promotion’s upcoming January 27th card in Edmonton, Alberta. MFC 32 “Bitter Rivals” will feature the promotion’s lightweight champion Antonio McKee taking on Brian Cobb, while light-heavyweight Dwayne Lewis will face UFC vet Wilson Gouveia in the company’s first, five round, non-title fight.

McKee (26-4-2) will be competing for the MFC for the first time since last September, when he stopped Luciano Azevedo in the first round. Following the win, the 41 year-old veteran lost by split decision to Jacob Volkmann at UFC 125 this past January, before submitting Jai Bradney at an Australian event this past August.

Cobb (19-6) is coming off a successful debut with the promotion, as he stopped Drew Fickett in the first round at MFC 30 in June. The 31 year-old fighter is 8-2 in his last 10 fights.

Lewis (12-7) will be looking to get back on the winning track, as the Fort McMurray fighter was stopped by reigning MFC light-heavyweight champ Ryan Jimmo in his last outing, which took place at MFC 28 in February. The noted slugger is 3-2 in his last five bouts.

Gouveia (12-8) will be on the hunt to end his three fight losing skid, which includes defeats at the hands of Nate Marquardt, Alan Belcher and most recently, the aforementioned Jimmo. The American Top Team fighter’s last win took place in December, 2008, when he tapped out Jason MacDonald with strikes at “The Ultimate Fighter” Season Eight Finale.

The MFC has also confirmed that “The African Assassin” Mukai Maromo (6-2) will take on former U.S. Marine Adam Lynn (17-8) at the January 27th event.

MFC 32 will be hosted by Edmonton’s Mayfield Conference Centre and will be broadcast live on HDNet.
